What is for one or the other, White or Black? What plagues this thought process? We are placed in boxes based on an idea. There does not exist a “real” White colored individual or Black one and yet we allow these two words to separate us as if we are different species. I do not see the value in using either word to describe any particular Human Race. As a product of both ethnicities, I can contest that the false implications of skin color do not make us any different in how we think, behave, need, or want. And yet our ignorance tells us that we are strangely different like a Zebra to a Giraffe.
I was introducing No Bubble Shampoo to a colleague, instantly she chuckles and says, “Oh that’s for White People.”. It is worse than the finger slow scrapping across a brand-new chalk board, when I hear those words. Do you need to wash your hair every day or week, I questioned her? “No.”, she replied. Do you have oil build up, I questioned next? “Yes.”, she replied. We all need clean scalps and the longer we can go without the harshness of shampooing the better, I added.
As a Human Race, we all suffer the same annoyances. Dry skin, oily skin, combination skin, sensitive skin, patchy skin, rosacea, eczema, and whatever else life has to offer. I truly wish I had a magic wand to un-condition us from what Zig Zigler would refer to as STINKING THINKING. And that is one condition we are all certain to get as it is HIGHLY 😷.
If it is something that is good or beneficial for us, why would we unwelcome it? Now I understand why products geared towards People of Color are misleading and filled with so many toxic chemicals, because we think that is what we deserve. We do not deserve stinking thinking or toxic chemicals. “Good” is all inclusive.
It is the circumstances that we are faced with and how we handle them that makes us each unique. Not the hues of our skins and maybe not even our ethnicities. An urban individual or one from the country are both engineers when it comes to improvising because he or she has to make do. A single mother can handle anything inside and outside the home. A house wife may not because she has someone to play or pay the handy role. As Zig Zigler would put it, it is the Attitude not the aptitude that determines results. Am I wrong for wanting our Attitudes to lean towards all inclusiveness?
